Charlotte, N.C. (July 28, 2015) — American Engineering Associates – Southeast, PA (American Engineering) and Martin Engineering, have signed a definitive agreement through which American Engineering has acquired the assets of the Virginia Beach-based company. This is the firm’s second Hampton Roads area acquisition within the past 8 months. Through the acquisition, American Engineering will add principal Brad Martin, PE, who started the firm more than 8 years ago. “Brad Martin and the Martin Engineering team will be a great addition to our company,” said Scott D. Stone, PE, president of Charlotte-based American Engineering. “We are excited to be able to add depth and leadership within our existing Virginia Beach office.”
The addition of Martin Engineering will be a complement to American Engineering’s existing Virginia Beach operation – most of which came through the acquisition of Engineering Services, Inc. in November 2014. The merger takes effect immediately and Martin will serve as Managing Principal of the newly combined Virginia Beach operation. Pete Burkhimer will continue in his role as Chief Engineer. American Engineering has also signed a lease for new office space at 448 Viking Drive in Virginia Beach. The existing operations located at Stoneshore Road and Lynnhaven Parkway (former Martin Engineering) will both relocate to the Oceana Place location on Viking Drive in September.
