Municipal Contract Wins for American Engineering

American Engineering celebrates several big contract wins to close out 2025!

As we strive to diversify our client and service mix, we continue to have success winning municipal “on-call” contracts with existing and new clients.

Winning these types of contracts is a very competitive and complex process. Each proposal is based solely on qualifications (not price) and we are typically competing against large, national firms. Past performance, reputation, and capabilities are key factors.

🏅 City of Petersburg, VA – On-Call Engineering Services
Following our recent success designing Petersburg’s 2-million-gallon Elevated Water Tank project, we were one of three firms to win an on-call contract for general engineering services, including: Civil Engineering, Stormwater Infrastructure Engineering, GIS, Environmental, Landscape Architecture & Planning, & Surveying. The length of the contract term is up to five years. Congrats to our program manager Patrick Lewis, P.E., ENV SP Lewis for this win. This is our first on-call contract with Petersburg. It is worth noting that most of the other firms selected were “incumbents” which means they each previously had similar contracts.

🏅 Town of Matthews, NC – On-Call Engineering Design Services
The Town of Matthews recently awarded various categories of contracts. American Engineering’s Charlotte office was one of four firms to win an on-call contract in the category of Greenway / Sidewalk / Multi-use Path Design Services. Pedestrian connectivity is a key area of focus and investment for Matthews. The length of the contract term is up to five years. Congrats to our program manager Chris Johnson for leading this proposal effort.

🏅 City of Chesapeake, VA – Professional Surveying and Drafting Services
The Chesapeake office was re-selected for its surveying on-call contract with the City of Chesapeake. The length of the contract term is up to five years. Congrats to our program manager Chris Capozzi for successfully managing our previous contract which created the opportunity to provide surveying services to Chesapeake for several more years.
