American Engineering is the ideal company for a Senior Civil Engineer who is ready to accelerate their career. We have a need to support our growing backlog of civil engineering design work related to retail, commercial and residential land development projects.
Our ideal candidate would have 8-10 years of design experience, strong CADD / Civil 3D skills. A BS in civil engineering or similar degree is required. PE is highly preferred.

Seeking Civil Engineers – we have a need to support our growing backlog of civil engineering design work related land development projects. Our ideal candidate would have 3-8 years of design experience, strong CADD / Civil 3D skills. A BS in civil engineering or similar degree is required.

American Engineering is looking for an entry-level Instrument Operator / Rodman to work with our survey group located in Chesapeake, Virginia. The successful candidate will work primarily in the field with a 2 or 3-person field crew.

Responsibilities

  • LEARN from surveyors and party chiefs with decades of experience
  • TECHNOLOGY – Operate survey equipment such as, but not limited to, total stations, levels, GPS, and data collectors in a proficient manner to define surface features and collect pertinent data.
  • ADVANCE through opportunities with a survey operation which has operated in Hampton Roads for almost 50 years.
  • Perform adjustment and calibration of survey instruments and operate total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment
  • Ensure maintenance of the survey vehicles and equipment
  • Assist in hands-on field activities as needed to identify benchmarks or clear areas for data gathering.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Virginia resident
  • Willingness to earn extra money through overtime pay.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

American Engineering is growing again and adding degreed Landscape Architects / Planners to support our growing backlog of work including residential land development projects, retail and commercial as well as municipal and state infrastructure work. Position could be in any of our offices.

Are you an ideal candidate? You would have 2 – 6 years of design experience, and a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture or something similar (Planning, GIS, etc.)  Our preferred new teammate has experience using AutoCAD and ideally strong experience with 2D and 3D renderings using programs such as Photoshop, Sketchup, LumenRT or other similar software.

Our projects include master and conceptual land planning, rezoning assistance, site design, landscape design and 2D/3D perspectives and renderings for many high-profile projects.

Are you the best at what you do?  American Engineering looking for civil engineerings and CADD specialists. Candidates are sought who either strengthen existing services or extend that expertise to new and emerging areas.

We are adding Dec ’21 & May ’22 new graduates to our teams in all of our locations. Our new colleagues would typically have a shiny new Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or something similar. New staff will be part of engineering design teams in Transportation, Land Development, or Municipal / Infrastructure Departments.

Not sure exactly what type of civil engineering you want to do? We might be a fit for you. We don’t pigeon-hole or staff, especially our new grads. You may get a chance to work on a variety of project types. Too many of the Mega-Big Companies are organized by work type – we stress collaboration and sharing of teammates between all of our departments.

Our most successful incoming employees will embrace the hands-on American Academy training program, have an intellectual curiosity, and ask a lot of questions of the numerous PEs on that team. We have reasonable expectations of our new grads…we assume we are going to have to teach you most everything you will need to know as part of our engineering design teams.

American Engineering is not as Boujie as some companies. And we won’t make you Tik Tok Famous. But we have challenging and interesting projects and do offer new engineers the chance to learn quickly from experts in a great environment.
