Position: Land Development Civil Engineer

Responsibilities
- Design and prepare site development plans, including grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control
- Perform stormwater management and hydrology/hydraulic calculations
- Assist with permitting and coordination with local municipalities and agencies
- Develop construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Collaborate with internal teams, including transportation, survey, and landscape architecture
- Respond to review comments and support revisions for project approvals
- Participating in client coordination and project meetings
- Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 3–8+ years of experience in land development (adjust based on level)
- EIT certification or ability to obtain
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and site design
Preferred:
- PE license (or on track to obtain)
- Familiarity with local permitting processes in NC or VA
- Experience with stormwater design and regulatory compliance
- Background in multidisciplinary project environments

Position – Land Development Civil Engineer (PE)
About the Role
We are seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) with land development experience to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both technical design and project management, with responsibility for leading projects from concept through permitting and construction.
You’ll work closely with clients, internal teams, and leadership while mentoring junior staff and helping drive successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage land development projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and project stakeholders
- Oversee the preparation of site design plans, including grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control
- Review and QA/QC project deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to meet deadlines and client expectations
- Coordinate permitting efforts and navigate local and state regulations
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
- Collaborate across disciplines (survey, transportation, landscape architecture, etc.) to deliver integrated solutions
- Support business development efforts, including proposal development and client relationship management
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 6+ years of experience in land development, including project management responsibilities
- Proven experience leading projects and managing client relationships
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and site design
Preferred:
- Experience with local permitting processes in NC or VA
- Strong understanding of stormwater management and regulatory compliance
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
- Background supporting proposals or contributing to business development efforts
