We are excited to share another major milestone for our team:
American Engineering has been selected by North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) for a new multi-year on-call contract providing Planning & Design Engineering Services and General Engineering Services across the Eastern Region of North Carolina (Divisions 1–7).
Under this contract, American Engineering will serve as a prime consultant and team lead, supporting projects throughout the Triad and Triangle regions and extending east to the North Carolina coast.
In addition to our role as prime, American Engineering was also selected as a subconsultant to four firms—RK&K, Michael Baker, Carolina Transportation Engineers, and Bolton & Menk—under the same solicitation, further expanding our collaborative presence across the region.
This award represents a re-selection of an existing contract, reflecting NCDOT’s continued confidence in our team and our work. We are currently designing—or have recently completed—projects throughout the Eastern Region, including Wake County (Raleigh), Beaufort County, and Camden County, just south of the Virginia line near our Chesapeake office. Construction is expected to begin in the coming months on several of these projects. One such site is located along a canal within the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.
This Eastern Region contract builds on a growing portfolio of NCDOT partnerships, including:
- Western Region On-Call (Divisions 8–14)
- Small Professional Services Firm (SPSF) Statewide On-Call
- Statewide Hydro Engineering On-Call
It also follows a recent Design-Build win for a $1.1 million project supporting Hurricane Helene recovery in Western North Carolina, focused on the replacement of four bridges damaged or destroyed during the storm.
We’re proud of our team’s continued momentum and grateful for the opportunity to keep Shaping the Future, Together across North Carolina.
