Planning Park Space that Started as Suburban, but Became Urban

Baileywick Park continues to be a draw for residents of north Raleigh

The 50-acre Baileywick Park may have seemed to be located in the outer northern suburbs when it was first constructed, but the city of Raleigh has grown around the area making it feel now like an urban sanctuary.

American Engineering – known as Gilleece and Associates at the time – supported the design of many of the parks’ facilities. The park includes a paved walking trail playgrounds, baseball fields, basketball courts, and community meeting spaces.
