Acquisition of Gannett Fleming’s Charlotte Operation Adds Transportation, Traffic & Structural Engineering Depth in Carolinas

Charlotte, N.C. — American Engineering Associates – Southeast, PA (American Engineering) and Camp Hill, PA- based Gannett Fleming, Inc., have signed a definitive agreement through which American Engineering has acquired the assets of Gannett Fleming’s Charlotte operation. Through the acquisition, American Engineering adds an engineering operation which started in Charlotte in 1990. Over its 23 year history, Gannett Fleming’s Charlotte office has established itself as one of the premier infrastructure design firms in the Carolinas. As part of the agreement, American Engineering adds the assets, staff, and projects of Gannett Fleming’s Charlotte office.

American Engineering’s new staff bring considerable expertise and experience serving public sector clients – such as the City of Charlotte, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation – as well as private sector clients including Belk Stores. Chris Johnson, PE, who led Gannett Fleming’s Charlotte office, is now a principal with American Engineering and will lead efforts in the public sector markets.
